I'm not sure if the title was very clear. What I mean is; If you're discussing something, sharing ideas, giving advise or simply just replying to someone here on the forum, does that members MBTI type influence your post? Does the type of a person matter to you at all when replying?

For example;

Are you more likely to avoid conflict or debate with a certain type because you're afraid of offending them? Or for some other reason?

Are you more inclined to think a post is 'intelligent' if it was made by an INTJ?

Do you tend to find the posts of a certain type more interesting than posts made by other types?

These are only examples, so they might seem a bit silly, but you get the idea. And these examples could work the other way around of course.

If this is the case, is it a bad thing?
And do you possibly adjust your behavior to a persons MBTI type in real life too? Do you think this is taking MBTI too far? Although, when writing that, I realise that people often adjust their behavior to whoever they're interacting with regardless of whether they know about MBTI or not.

Isn't the whole point of MBTI to understand yourself and others better? When have you taken MBTI too far?

Any thoughts?

Nice post Kuja.

It used to alter my response as with some types I felt I had to word things differently but that was when I first got into MBTI so that was just my inexperience coming out. Now I just act pretty much the same around everyone. Life is too short :)
There was a time when I shyed away from ENFJs as most of my friends had been ENFJ and my mother is an ENFJ and I was sick of being manipulated. But I met a fellow INFJ in my English class and she was truly the most vile person I have ever met. I woke up and realised that one person does not represent a whole type and although I had negative experiences with several ENFJs it didn't mean that all ENFJs would hurt me. I was young and stupid...and I regret acting that way.
I also avoided ENTPs sometimes (again I was young and stupid) because I felt intimidated by them and I found it hard to understand them and they usually made me cry. But that turned out much like the ENFJ situation. I began using MBTI as a tool...but correctly this time. I tried to understand people more instead of using it for selection.

I've already answered a post similar to this on another site and my answer was no with one exception. I find that if I don't calm myself down a bit when speaking to INFPs they're liable to get emotional and I, personally, don't care to see that. So I find different ways to say things that I'd normally say. You can say nicer ways.

No, not afraid. However, instead of checking what type somebody is and altering my response to that, I'd much rather like to read the intro post somebody makes to see "how much they can take". If somebody came across as "easy to offend" I am less likely to welcome them with "Hey asshole" (just as an example), even if it is just a joke. But I decide that according to their posts, not their types.

Nope. I much rather read the post and if it really had a good content, I will say "S/He is smart". Being an INTJ doesn't automatically make you smart.

Nope. It's the whole person who makes a post interesting, but even then there is no guarantee. A person I find "less appealing" can still write an awesome post and somebody I like a lot can still have a bad day and write down crap.

Type-Racism is a bad thing. I don't like it and if people live it out openly on this forum, they might get an infraction-point. I do not intend to encourage such a thing. MBTI is a tool, a help; not a law.

You took it too far if you start to think "every xxxx is like this and that" (in a bad way. Bias; stereotypes. You get it) and if you start to say things like "You don't do this and that. Are you SURE you are an xxxx?". It is also taking it too far if you avoid certain people only because of their type, maybe because in the past you have had troubles with a specific group. It's just stupid. Every person deserves a fair chance and also, you personally wouldn't want others to do that to you either. You wouldn't want people to look at you and say "Oh my, he has blue eyes. That means he is an asshole", for example. Same with the type.
It is neither fair to say "Hah, I am an xxxx and thus smarter than everybody because of it". I mean I get it, we all like self-flattery and sometimes it is alright or as a joke; but if you think like that all the time I think you have a psychological problem of some sort.
My 2 cents.
